Prediction: Joel Piniero wins the Gold Glove this year at pitcher
Jump to Comments
Okay, I am not quite as delusional as to actually predict* this (especially not with Greg Maddux still playing), but I have watched this incredible play by former Red Sox pitcher Joel Piniero 15 times now and I can’t get enough.
*This is not to mention the ridiculous nature of how Gold Gloves are awarded. **
**The use of asterisks in a sports post is absolutely ripping off my new favorite sports blogger, Joe Posnanski. If you haven’t checked him out yet, do so immediately.
Absolutely amazing play (and a little lucky):

No serious baseball blogger would make predictions about Gold Glove Awards because they are meaningless. You know why, so I won’t get into it, but don’t pretend to be a Bill James guy one day and waste our time with Gold Glove discussions another. See ya

Steve,
If you actually read the blog you would see that I was joking about the gold glove, rather just commenting about the play. The gold glove is the most ridiculous award handed out in professional sports. Hence my asterisk comment.
